American Idol celebrates 20 years… Wendy Williams update… ‘The Tinder Swindler’ is charging $20K… The exes were spotted together… and 2022 SAG Awards Moments
“American Idol” is back for its 20th season. Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie are doing all the judging. Ryan Seacrest is doing all the hosting. And with Bobby Bones out, Bebe Rexha and Jimmie Allen will be doing all the sideline mentoring. Among the highlights last night, Aretha Franklin’s granddaughter, 16-year-old Grace Franklin, auditioned. Katy said yes; Luke said no. It was up to Lionel who sided with Luke, but encouraged Grace to get a little more experience and come back next year. Katy was ticked and came after Lionel with a chair. But Luke loved a country singer who auditioned named HunterGirl. He called her a “new age Miranda Lambert” and said she was the favorite female country voice he’s heard in 5 years. In fact, Luke and the judges asked HunterGirl to perform at Luke’s bar in Nashville and they surprised her by giving her a PLATINUM Ticket to Hollywood. This is a new twist. This season, the judges have three Platinum Tickets to hand out, and whoever gets it bypasses the first round of the dreaded Hollywood Week.
Our very first #PlatinumTicket went to @huntergirlmusic, and she still can’t believe it happened to her at @LukeBryan‘s bar! pic.twitter.com/zPyftRpA4i— American Idol (@AmericanIdol) February 28, 2022
We found out last week that “The Wendy Williams Show” will not return after the current Season 13 ends and will be replaced by Season One of “The Sherri Sheperd Show.” Sources told the New York Post that Wendy is not doing well. She’s down in Florida with her son Kevin right now and she’s missing her medical appointments. A longtime friend said, “People are very worried about Wendy and her well-being…We want to get Wendy back to NYC to get her back on track.” The source also said, “Wendy is pissed right now. You have to understand her talk show was pretty much all she had. It was her passion…so now what?”
“Tinder Swindler” Simon Leviev is now charging $20K to show up at nightclubs with the following list of requirements — a private jet, a 5-star hotel suite, black SUV car service, 2 full-time security guards and bottle service at the club. Reportedly, he’s getting offers here in the US, as well as Mexico and Germany! Simon is also on Cameo, charging $199 for individuals and $999 for businesses to send a video message. He currently has a 4.9 rating from 76 reviews with 24 hour delivery available.
It looks like Aaron Rodgers and Shailene Woodley are trying to work things out. A source insisted to “Us Weekly” they were “definitely over,” but things are different now. Now that football season is over, the source says Aaron “has more downtime and can focus more on a relationship.” They were spotted grocery shopping together last week, which is always an excellent sign. The source said, “Shailene is understanding and open — she hasn’t shut the door completely or she would’ve never agreed to meet up with him.”
The SAG Awards were held last night and among some of the highlights people are talking about today….Selena Gomez tripped on the red carpet and went the rest of the night barefoot! She even presented the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role while barefoot. By the way, Ariana DeBose won that award for her role in “West Side Story,” making her the first openly gay woman to win an individual award, as well as the first Latina to win a SAG film award. Another first last night, “CODA” actor Troy Katsur became the first deaf actor to win Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role, and the deaf cast of “CODA” became the first ever ensemble to win top prize, Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. Other highlights, Salma Hayek almost had a panic attack when she announced Michael Keaton as the winner of the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series in “Dopesick.” He was in the bathroom when his name was called, but finally came running into the room and literally rolled onto the stage to accept. Michael choked back tears as he dedicated his award to his nephew Michael and his sister Pam. Michael’s nephew passed away from drug addiction.
