Holiday movies at Discovery+… Olivia Newton-John will have a State Funeral… Jonah Hill is stepping back… Three VMA hosts this year… and Kanye West responds to backlash
Costco has their Christmas trees up, so apparently it’s not too early to start thinking about Christmas movies! It’s not just about Hallmark anymore. Last year, the Food Network gave us their first-ever scripted feature, “Candy Coated Christmas with Ree Drummond.” It was successful enough that Discovery+ wanted to get in on the action with two new Christmas movies featuring Food Network stars — “One Delicious Christmas” starring Bobby Flay and “A Gingerbread Christmas” with Duff Goldman. Discovery+ also dipped into the talent pond over on HGTV and pulled out Ben and Erin Napier, who will star in “A Christmas Open House.” And Hilary Farr from “Love It or List It’ stars in “Designing Christmas.” I don’t have Discovery+ but still….I. CANNOT. WAIT.

Olivia Newton-John passed away on August 8. The State Premier of Victoria in Australia says her family has accepted his offer of giving Olivia a state funeral. Daniel Andrews said, “This will be much more of a concert than a funeral, I think it will be a celebration of such a rich and generous life.” Olivia was born in the UK but her family moved to Melbourne, Victoria, when she was an itty-bitty. No word on when the state funeral will take place. But in honor of Olivia, starting today and for a limited time, AMC Theaters is releasing “Grease” at 175 theaters across the country. Tickets are only $5 and a dollar from each ticket sold will go to breast cancer research. But make sure you go online and check if the AMC nearest you is showing it! I had to check about five theaters before I found one.

Jonah Hill has made a documentary about mental health called “Stutz,” and Jonah reveals his personal struggles with anxiety and his journey through therapy and other coping mechanisms. But the anxiety is so severe, Jonah will not be doing any press or personal appearances to promote “Stutz.” In a letter, Jonah said, “If I made myself sicker by going out there and promoting it, I wouldn’t be acting true to myself or to the film. I hope the work will speak for itself and I’m grateful to my collaborators, my business partners and to all reading this for your understanding and support.” Jonah has also deleted his Instagram, which is most likely related to his anxiety struggles.

Kanye West has something to say about the criticism he’s receiving for his Yeezy Gap collection, which is stuffed into big black plastic bags and people have to dig through them to find their sizes. Kanye gave his first interview in over six months to Fox News, and said, first of all, those aren’t trash bags. Those are construction bags. And also, “I’m an innovator, and I’m not here to sit up and apologize about my ideas. That’s exactly what the media tries to do…make us apologize for any idea that doesn’t fall under exactly the way they want us to think. This is not a joke, this is not a game, this is not just a celebrity collaboration … this is my life.”
Kanye West popped up on — where else? — Fox News to clear up some ostensible confusion about how he’s selling his new Yeezy Gap collection. https://t.co/6zuH3AqZxH
