The two were already charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud, but now Lori Loughlin and her husband Mossimo have been hit with the new charge of money laundering conspiracy. Because they didn’t accept the original deal to plead guilty and apologize, Lori, Mossimo and 14 others involved in the college admissions cheating scandal could be facing much longer prison sentences, that is IF they’re convicted. Money laundering carries a maximum of 20 years in prison. The mail fraud charge also comes with a maximum of 20 years. Legal experts say even if they’re convicted, it’s not likely anyone will go to prison for a full 40 years over this, but they could definitely see jail time. According to TMZ, prosecutors are expected to ask the judge for sentences ranging from a minimum of 4 years and 9 months up to 5 years and 11 months.
