Quibi update… Dog the Bounty Hunter is engaged… Tom Cruise is developing a project… Elon Musk & Grimes welcome baby ‘X Æ A-12’… and Scott Disick leaves rehab after leaked photos
So what’s up with Quibi? They raised almost $2B to launch this thing, throwing money at huge A-listers to get them to agree to do these 10-minutes-or-less TV shows. According to TechDirt, when Quibi launched, it ranked as the fourth most downloaded iPhone app. A week later, it dropped out of the top 50. As of now, Quibi is less popular than the Calm meditation app and the Roku app that functions as a TV remote…But if you’re still curious, you can sign up for a free 14-day trial before deciding if it’s worth $4.99 a month. Maybe start with the shows that got perfect scores on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics for Rotten Tomatoes want to check it out, according to Rotten Tomatoes, these are the best shows to watch, all earning perfect scores from their critics. “Gayme Show” has two straight contestants paired up with a celebrity “life partner” as they battle head-to-head to win the title, “Queen of the Straights.” “Run This City” is a docu-series that follows Jasiel Correia, the youngest mayor in Massachusetts history, who running for re-election while facing prosecution for wire fraud and extortion. “I Promise” is another docs-series about how LeBron James is trying to change the dropout rates in Akron, Ohio, by founding the I Promise public school. And in “You Ain’t Got These,” Lena Waithe explores the psychology of sneaker culture.
The man we call “Dog the Bounty Hunter” — Duane Johnson — is engaged. Last summer, Duane Johnson’s wife Beth died after a long battle with cancer. He was completely devastated and said he promised Beth that he would never get married again. But shortly after she died, Beth’s best friend — who was the maid of honor in her wedding — moved in and moved all of Beth’s clothes out. Dog’s family was livid. So in February, Dog and Moon went on Dr. Oz’s show where he actually proposed, but she wasn’t feeling him that way. Shortly after, Dog started dating a woman named Francis Frane. She lost her husband a few months before Beth died and they bonded over their grief. And after a few short months of dating — and 10 months after Beth died — Dog and Francie are engaged. They’re waiting until after the coronavirus restrictions are lifted to get married because they want a big wedding. Back in March, a reporter asked Dog if he thought he’d marry Francie and he said, “There will never be another Mrs. Dog, but it looks like there will be a final Mrs. Chapman.” And unlike that situation with Moon, Dog’s kids are completely on board. This will be Dog’s sixth marriage.
Tom Cruise loves doing his own stunts. He’s scaled the world’s tallest building in Dubai…he held onto the side of an airplane as it was taking off…he learned how to hold his breath underwater for six and half minutes… What else could he possibly do that would give him an adrenaline rush? Deadline is reporting that Tom Cruise will be the first person to film a movie IN SPACE. He’s reportedly teaming up with Elon Musk to will film in one of his SpaceX spaceships. NASA is said to be involved in the production. Deadline says this is in the early stages of development, and that while this won’t be a “Mission: Impossible” movie, it will be an action movie and not a documentary. Space X’s first manned launch is set for May 27th.
Tom Cruise is developing a project with Elon Musk’s Space X and NASA that would be the first-ever feature film shot in space
Elon Musk and his girlfriend Grimes have announced the birth of their son. When someone tweeted, “We need the name we literally need it.” Elon responded, “X Æ A-12 Musk.” We’re not sure if he’s joking or not. This is Grimes’ first child. Elon has five sons from a previous marriage — 16-year-old twins Xavier and Griffin and 14-year-old triplets Kai, Saxon and Damian. In even MORE Elon news, last week he said he wanted to sell all his worldly possessions so he could have his freedom back. He then listed two of his homes for sale. Both are for sale by owner. One is for $30M and the other — which was once owned by Gene Wilder — is for $9.5M.
Yesterday, news broke that Scott Disick had checked into rehab in Colorado last Tuesday because he’s never gotten over the death of his parents and he was using cocaine and alcohol again. Because Scott arrived during the pandemic, he had to be quarantined, so his first group meeting was over Zoom. Some JERK sold a photo of that to the Daily Mail and when Scott found out, he checked out of rehab and called his lawyer. Scott’s lawyer says, first of all, Scott did NOT go to rehab for alcohol or cocaine abuse. He says Scott still has issues with his parents dying within 3 months of each other a few years ago and being in quarantine at home made it worse. And now Scott will be suing All Points North Lodge because they believe it was someone on the staff, not a fellow patient, who leaked that photo, and that is a huge HIPPAA violation.
Scott Disick has officially left the rehab he spent nearly a week in after the facility leaked an alleged photo of him. https://t.co/RoWarJlJlA pic.twitter.com/GypfwuwGXO— E! News (@enews) May 5, 2020
