$731.1 million Powerball lottery winner… ‘ZooMaa’is stepping back… Drake’s album has been pushed back… JoJo Siwa’s newest TikTok… and Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello sparked engagement rumors
One winning ticket was sold in Maryland for the Powerball lottery last night, which had gotten up to $730M. If the winner chose the cash option, he or she will receive a lump sum of $546M, before taxes. This is not the largest jackpot in Powerball history. That would be the $1.6B jackpot from January 2016, but in that instance, the money was split between 3 winning tickets. And while $730M is nothing to sneeze at, it’s still not the largest single-ticket win on record. Back in October 2018, someone who remains anonymous to this day bought a ticket in Simpsonville, SC, and won the $1.537B Mega Millions jackpot. Another chance to win big happens tomorrow night with the Mega Millions jackpot. It’s projected to hit $970M, which would have a lump sum payout of $716.3M. FYI, Mega Millions and Powerball are both played in 45 states as well as Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Powerball also is offered in Puerto Rico.
A single ticket sold in Maryland matched all six numbers of the $731.1 million Powerball lottery, the fourth-largest jackpot in Powerball history https://t.co/pJkKThS8Nq— CNN Breaking News (@cnnbrk) January 21, 2021
Thomas Paparatto is a professional gamer. Or he WAS a professional gamer. At the age of 25, Thomas — who played under the name ZooMaa — is hanging up his joystick due to an unfortunate thumb injury. He announced his retirement this week, saying he “will no longer compete in competitive Call of Duty for the foreseeable future.” Apparently, an old thumb injury that had previously required surgery has come back, and ZooMaa says it makes it very difficult to compete “at the highest level against some of the best players in the world.”
Drake’s fans have been waiting for him to release his new album called “Certified Lover Boy.” He was supposed to drop it back in the summer, but then postponed it to January. Hey! That’s, like, NOW. But yesterday, Drake announced he’s postponing again. Back in October, Drake had to have knee surgery and he’s spent the last few months focusing on rehab. On his IG Story yesterday, Drake said, “I’m blessed to be back on my feet feeling great and focused on the album, but it won’t be dropping in January. I’m looking forward to sharing it with you all in 2021.”
Drake’s album has been pushed back
JoJo Siwa was trending yesterday after she posted a video of her lip-syncing to “Born This Way.” It’s not like she hasn’t lip-synched to this Lady Gaga song before, but this time, JoJo was wearing all her rainbow merchandise with rainbow lights flashing around her room as she sings along to, “No matter gay, straight, or bi / Lesbian, transgender life / I’m on the right track baby / I was born to survive.” Among those leaving comments was YouTuber James Charles who said, “I’m so happy for you.” So….did JoJo Siwa just come out?
Fans are speculating that Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello are days away from announcing their engagement. Screenshots of an IG Stories post claiming they’re engaged went viral this week, so now we’re just playing wait-and-see. Back in December, a reporter for Entertainment Tonight as Shawn if he talks to Camila about an engagement and he said, “She’s been one of my best friends since I was, like, 15 years old. I don’t know, at the same time, I know we are really young so I don’t want to jump, like, insanely fast, but I think when you find your person, you feel and you know that you have found your person.” By the way, Shawn is 22 and Camila is 23.
