Jon M. Chu to direct ‘Oh, The Places You’ll Go!’… Jessica Simpson heals… Adele update… Paris Hilton ties the knot… and Taylor Swift & Starbucks are collaborating
Another Dr. Seuss book is being adapted for an animated movie, but don’t get too excited just yet. “Oh, the Places You’ll Go” is expected to his theaters in 2027. Between now and then, though, another movie version of “The Cat in the Hat” will be released in 2024, followed by a “Thing One and Thing Two” movie in 2026. Back to “Oh, the Places You’ll Go,” it will be directed by Jon M. Chu, who also directed “Crazy Rich Asians,” “In the Heights,” and the upcoming “Wicked.” And like the latter two, this movie will be a musical.
Jessica Simpson is back with some new music — a stripped down cover of “Particles” by Nothing But Thieves. Jessica credits this song for saving her when she was struggling with addiction to pills and alcohol. She’s also released a music video, where she’s sitting balled up in a velvet chair, surrounded by candles and stained glass. In the description of the video, Jessica says, “The whole idea of music heals in a very real statement to me. This song healed a broken piece of me.” The song starts, “It’s been like a year since I’ve been home, flirting with an addiction I can’t shake off. My mouth is dry, I self medicate. This comedown won’t cure itself, It’s driving you away…Piece by piece, day by day…..”
In an interview with “Rolling Stone,” Adele talks about how she was devastated and embarrassed by her divorce from Simon Konecki, and it left her bed-ridden for weeks with anxiety. But then she found exercise. Adele said she realized, “If I can transform my strength and my body like this, surely I can do it to my emotions and to my brain and to my inner well-being.” “Rolling Stone” asked about the rumor that she’s going to have a Vegas residency, and Adele said she hasn’t signed up for one because “there’s (BLANKING) nothing available!” And as far as a big tour, she said, “It’s too unpredictable, with all the rules and stuff. I don’t want anyone coming to my show scared. And I don’t want to get Covid, either.” Meantime, you can get your Adele fix when her special airs this Sunday night on CBS.
THREE. MORE. DAYS.
Paris Hilton is FINALLY a married woman. She and venture capitalist Carter Reum were married at the Bel-Air estate of Paris’ late grandfather last night. The cast of the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” Kim Kardashian West, Emma Roberts, Rachel Zoe, Bebe Rexha, Ashley Benson and Paula Abdul were among the celebrity guests, who all received a Baccarat goodie bag as a wedding favor. Paris released a glam headshot of her wedding day look, giving us a little peak of her custom Oscar de la Renta gown. However, Paris said she planned SEVERAL outfit changes on her wedding day and over the 3-day wedding weekend. Unlike other drawn-out wedding weekends rich people like to do, Paris is flipping it, holding the wedding first, followed by last night’s reception at the estate, a carnival on the Santa Monica pier today, and then a black-tie gala on Saturday. And camera crews are capturing all of it for “Paris in Love” — a 13-part docuseries that premiered last night on Peacock. A new episode will drop every Thursday.
When Scooter Braun bought Taylor Swift’s old record label and her catalog of music that went with it, she was livid. She says she wasn’t given the opportunity to buy it back and then Scooter turned around and sold it to a private equity firm called Shamrock Holdings. Taylor was so mad about what was happening, she threatened to re-record all her old albums. According to “Financial Times,” that freaked out the people at Shamrock Holdings, who then tried to back out of their deal with Scooter. But reportedly, Scooter told them they didn’t think Taylor’s threats were serious. In fact, the more she talked about it, the more people were listening to her old music, driving up the value of the catalog. That was enough for Shamrock Holdings to hear. But they didn’t know Taylor Swift as well as they thought, because she followed through with her threat, first releasing her new version of “Fearless” and now, her new version of “Red,” which is out today. By the way, to celebrate this fabulous day, Taylor has teamed up with Starbucks and starting today, you can enjoy Taylor’s favorite drink — a Grande Caramel Nonfat Latte. Just tell your barista you’d like “Taylor’s Latte” or “Taylor’s Version.”
