Amy Winehouse exhibit… Missy Elliott was honored… Alanis Morissette‘s sitcom… Britney Spears update… and Travis Scott to pay funeral costs for Astroworld victims
On July 23, 2011, Amy Winehouse died from alcohol poisoning. Her family put everything into storage but finally decided it was time to let her things go. More than 800 of Amy’s dresses, shoes and jewelry were sold at auction for about $4M, including the dress she wore at her final concert in Belgrade, Serbia, one month before she died. Amy’s stylist designed a green and black silk Spanx mini dress with a bamboo and floral print. That dress sold for $243,200 over the weekend. Later this month, several of the auction items will be put on display at London’s Design Museum as part of their “Amy: Beyond the Stage” exhibit. Their now owners will get their Amy pieces after the exhibit closes.

Some say Olivia Rodrigo is the modern day Alanis Morissette. Some of us were there for Alanis’ incredibly successful debut album “Jagged Little Pill” and may beg to disagree. However, Alanis’ life story is now being turned into a sitcom for ABC called “Relatable.” According to the press release, the show follows a 40-something woman, married with three kids, who was once an international rock star who wrote songs about female rage and teen angst. ABC says Alanis’ life will influence the writing and the stories they tell, but all the characters are fictional and this is non-biographical.
Britney Spears is counting down the days until her next conservatorship hearing on Friday. She posted a beautiful piece of artwork — her backside wearing nothing but a yellow thong — followed by another piece of beautiful artwork she captioned, “This week is gonna be very interesting for me !!! Over the weekend, eight people died and hundreds were injured after the crowd surged forward at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival in Houston. Travis has announced he will pay all funeral costs for those who died as well as free mental health services for those who were affected. Full refunds are also available to all ticket holders for both Friday and Saturday’s canceled show. Travis’ rep said, “These are the first of many steps Travis plans on taking as a part of his personal vow to assist those affected throughout their grieving and recovery process.” Meantime, Fortnite has removed Travis’ music emote from its item shop. Emotes are dance moves or actions characters can perform in the game. And Travis has pulled out as the headliner of this weekend’s Day N Vegas Festival. Post Malone is stepping in.
