“Thor: Love and Thunder” opened in first place at the box office this weekend, taking in $143M. But social media isn’t loving it. The overwhelming opinion seems to be that the movie is just too goofy. “Minions: The Rise of Gru” was second with $45.6M. “Top Gun: Maverick” came in at No. 3 with $15.4M, followed by “Elvis” with $11M and “Jurassic World Dominion” with $8M.

Johnny Depp and Jeff Beck are dropping a new album on Friday called “18,” because that’s how old they feel when they’re playing music. Johnny actually wrote two of the 13 songs. A British news outlet got an early preview and revealed that Johnny calls Amber Heard out over the defamation trial. One song is called “Sad Mother(BLANKIN’) Parade” and Johnny sings, “You’re sitting there like a dog with a seven-year itch” and “If I had a dime, it wouldn’t reach your hand.” Meantime, Amber is asking the court to declare a mistrial. Her attorneys allege that one of the jurors wasn’t supposed to be there. Amber’s team said the jury panel list sent to both sets of lawyers before the trial started included a 77-year-old person, but the voter registration listed a 52-year-old person with the same last name living at the same address. Maybe it’s a Sr. and Jr. situation? But Amber’s team said, “The individual who appeared for jury duty with this name was obviously the younger one. Thus, the 52-year-old…sitting on the jury for six weeks was never summoned for jury duty on April 11…..Ms. Heard’s due process was therefore compromised. Under these circumstances, a mistrial should be declared, and a new trial ordered.”

Kate Bush is over the moon about her 1985 song “Running Up That Hill” being included in “Stranger Things 4: Volume 1.” Not only has the song reportedly earned over $2.5M in streaming revenue, because it took nearly 40 years for it to reach No. 1 in the UK, it’s broken a few Guinness World Records:

  1. Longest time for a track to reach No.1 on the UK’s Official Singles Chart
  2. Oldest female artist to reach No.1 on the UK’s Official Singles Chart
  3. Longest gap between No.1s on the UK’s Official Singles Chart

Beyoncé’s seventh studio album “Renaissance” is set to drop on July 29. In preparation, Beyoncé reportedly ran #MeToo background checks on all producers and artists associated with the album. This decision came after her former collaborator Detail —who produced her 2013 hit “Drunk In Love” — was arrested in 2020 for 15 counts of sexual assault. Because of these current #MeToo checks, Beyoncé reportedly rejected two “high-profile” artists from appearing on her record.

Shawn Mendes announced he’s postponing his “Wonder” world tour to take care of his mental health. In a statement he shared on his Instagram, Shawn said, “This breaks my heart to have to say this, but unfortunately I’m going to have to postpone the next three weeks of shows through Uncasville, CT until further notice. I’ve been touring since I was 15 and to be honest it’s always been difficult to be on the road away from friends and family. After a few years off the road, I felt like I was ready to dive back in, but that decision was premature and unfortunately the toll of the road and the pressure has caught up to me and I’ve hit a breaking point. After speaking with my team and health professionals, I need to take some time to heal and take care of myself and my mental health, first and foremost.”
