Budweiser will sit out Super Bowl… Kelly Clarkson’s talk show could take Ellen DeGeneres’ spot… Kim Kardashian & Kanye West divorce update… JoJo Siwa was swatted… and Trey Songz was released from police custody
The Super Bowl is coming up Feb. 7th and this year, a :30 spot is going for $5.6M!! A lot of major advertisers have decided to pull ads this year, saying they’ll spend the money on COVID-19 initiatives instead. Among those companies are Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Avocados from Mexico, Hyundai and Budweiser, who is skipping a Super Bowl ad for the first time in 37 years! Pepsi is still sponsoring the Halftime Show, and they’re also advertising their other brands, including Mountain Dew and Frito-Lay.
Happy birthday, Ellen! You could be losing your show! According to “Page Six,” there could be a huge shake up in daytime TV. Ellen has been struggling to keep her audience and advertisers after a lot of bad press last year. In fact, her ratings have slipped 8%.With just 1 year left on her deal, Ellen will enter talks about the future of her show next month. But if her show does go away, Kelly Clarkson will most likely take over Ellen’s prime 3PM time slot. Last month, Kelly hit a season high and matched Ellen’s numbers for the first time.
Kanye West is back in LA for the first time since news of his impending divorce from Kim Kardashian broke. We assume he flew in from Wyoming to hash out divorce details because Kim is hoping they can reach an agreement before officially filing the paperwork. A source told Page Six that Kim and Kanye’s marriage problems will be featured on the series finale of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” which is fine with Kanye. The source said, “He understands Kim’s side has to spin that she is sick of him. In reality, he’s been sick of being involved with the Kardashians for a long while…especially her mother, who looms large in all big decisions she makes.”
Just hours after coming out, JoJo Siwa’s house was surrounded by LAPD, who ordered everyone inside to come out with their hands up. JoJo and the three others in the house did as they were told. It turns out, JoJo had been the victim of a swatting incident. She later posted a video saying she was afraid an intruder was in the house that she didn’t know about, which totally freaked her out. And while she’s thankful it was a false alarm, JoJo reminded her followers, “Never prank the police that is the most wrong thing to do. It’s very, very, very illegal.” She believes whoever did it was one of the paparazzi waiting for her to literally come outside ever since she came out as part of the LGBTQ community.
Sunday night, Trey Songz was arrested at an NFL game in Kansas City. TMZ has video of Trey getting into a fight with a police officer. Trey punches the officer and puts him in a headlock. Trey was arrested for trespassing, resisting arrest — both misdemeanors — and for assaulting a police officer … a low-grade felony. A witness said the whole thing started when Trey was being heckled by fans. The officer approached Trey, and without warning, went after him. The witness says Trey was totally caught off guard when the officer got physical, and started to defend himself. But Kansas City police say there was more to it than that. They say fans were upset with Trey for not wearing a mask and he also refused to comply with orders from security. That’s when police came to have a little chat with Trey, who still refused to put on his mask, and the fight happened. Trey was arrested and finally released at 10am yesterday. He immediately posted pictures of him flying home in his private jet, and also some fun pictures from inside the stadium. He said the game was “lit,” but never mentioned the arrest. The Jackson County prosecutor will review the case for possible charges.
